Heptathlete Devon Byrne took a strong victory at the home Counties Combined Events competition.
Competing at Manchester, Devon, representing England, won the senior ladies Heptathlon with a score of 4899points, just down on her personal best of 5004 set earlier in the summer.
Devon has a strong second day and although in second place after day one surged through to win the next day. She opened with a time of 15.28 for the 100m hurdles, then high jumped 1m60.
A shot putt of 10m99 followed and day one ended with a 200m run in 26.67.
These results gave Devon score of 2875pts but 242 behind her England team-mate, Moe Sasegbon who led with 3117.
The opening event of Day 2 was the long jump where Devon leapt 5m16, just down on Moe who jumped 5m29.
However in the final two events Devon powered though to victory.
Devon threw the javelin 35m22, some 12m better than her colleague and closed to within 50pts with the final event remaining.
The 800m is always one of Devon’s best disciplines and with a fine time of 2.18.42(worth 845pts) took the competition with a final score of 4899, Sasegbon placed second scoring 4789.
