A strongman took on Europe’s biggest obstacle race for the third time this weekend.
Online marketing manager and journalist Rob Foulkes from Woburn Sands tackled 13-miles and 17 gruelling obstacles to secure an impressive sub three-hour finish at the Fisherman’s Friend StrongmanRun in Germany.
Rob raced to the finish line in an impressive 2 hours and 21 minutes, competing as part of an elite five-strong ‘Team Britain’.
The day saw racers from across Europe battle it out across 13-miles of brutal hills, ice-cold water and towering walls of steel at the famed Nürburgring circuit in Nürburg, Germany, as thousands of spectators looked on.
A delighted Rob said: “I’m chuffed with the result.
“I’ve been training hard since the start of the year to take on this challenge, and am well practised in this sort of event given my job – but it certainly lived up to its reputation as one of the toughest races I’d ever attempt.
“My least favourite obstacle had to be the electric shock crawl, which is about as much fun as it sounds!
“Overall, the event was a fantastic one, and an experience I’d recommend to anyone.”
As chief editor as one of the UK’s leading obstacle race websites, Muddy Race, Rob is no stranger to this sort of challenge, having previously tackled the UK OCR Championships, Spartan Race and Total Warrior UK.
