Lara Moffat won the English Athletics U15 hammer championship held at Bedford last weekend.
Lara threw a mighty 53.14m to win by almost 4m, setting a club record, improving by 3.19m and to the top of the UK rankings. Lara was beaten for gold in both the English Schools and South of England Championships by Lily Murray (Thanet AC). But Lara was a comfortable winner as the Kent athlete only threw 48.66m.
Eva Durand placed just outside the medals in the U15 javelin throwing 37.69m. Eva is sixth ranked in the UK.
MMKAC have not had a good male pole vaulter for some years, but it looks as if Tim Penley may well continue to progress with what he has achieved this summer. Starting with a PB of 2.50m he has now cleared a metre higher. At Bedford he finished fifth with a superb height of 3.51m. Tim had progressed to 3.40m recently and is now ninth in the UK U15 boys rankings.
Another U15 girls club record came from Lateefah Agberemi who placed seventh overall in the triple jump with a distance of 10.44m,albeit with a strong following wind. She improved the distance set in 2012 of 10.16m by Laura Zialor. Finally in this age group Moyin Oduyemi made it through the heats and semi-final to the 100m final, finishing seventh in 12.43, just outside her PB.
George Ho ran 24.74 in the heats of the M15 200m whilst Olly Miller clocked 11.28 in his heat of the M17 100m. Finally in this older age group James Frith placed 10th in the shot, with his third best distance of he year(13.10m) and Sam Featherstone high jumped 1.86m for 12th position.
