MK’s athletes don Bucks tops for inter-counties champs

Nine athletes from Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club pulled on the Buckinghamshire jersey at the annual inter-counties track and field championships were held at Bedford.

Jackson Curtis threw a season’s best of 66.22m in the javelin to qualify for the final but only managed 62.69 in the final where he placed fifth.

Chris Clarke was on his way to a podium place in the 200m having won both his heat and semi-final (20.74) but did not take his place in the final.

In the field events Kayleigh Presswell threw a season’s best of 53.53m in the hammer qualifying competition but had to settle for 51.91m in the final and 10th place. Club mate Laeken Impey threw 45.06m in the qualifying event.

Rachel Gibbens was just short of a season’s best with 3.60m for 6th in the pole vault. Chucko Cribb tripled jumped an excellent 14.51m for 4th position.

On the track Lara Bromilow set a personal best in the 5000, seventh with a time of 17.17.78, Elle Roche clocked 4.48.91 in the heats of the 1500m and finally Ryan Burling, although running his second fastest time of the year of 9.41.26 in the 3000m steeplechase placed 12th.

The English Disability championships were held with the meeting and Thomas Green threw 25.86 in the F32 seated club event to win the silver medal.
