Oakgrove take top prize in School Championship

Oakgrove triumphed at the Milton Keynes Secondary Schools Cross-Country Championships in Campbell Park.

Charlotte Underwood (Denbigh) won the Year 7 Girls race by the large margin of 32-seconds whilst Alex Brent (Denbigh) won the corresponding Boys race with Aidan Murphy (Ousedale) runner-up.

The Year 8 and 9 Girls race was won by Barbara De Koning (Ousedale) with Montana Edghill (Oakgove) 2nd Imogen King (Oakgrove), 3rd and Gemma Milne (Lord Grey) 4th.

James Dowsett (Stantonbury) won the Year 8 and 9 Boys race with Robert Hickman 2nd.

The Year 10 and 11 Girls race produced a victory for Emma Mears (Oakgrove) by 33-seconds over Enya Deysel (Denbigh). Charlotte Moyse (Walton High) placed 3rd, Jessica Nuttall (Hazeley) 4th, Holly Jamieson (Walton High) 5th and Libby Herdman-Smith (Ousedale) 6th.

There was a closer finish in the Year 10 & 11 Boys race as Alfie Yabsley (Stantonbury) won by 8-seconds over Jack Meijer (Walton High) with Ewan Forsythe (Stantonbury) 3rd.

Oakgrove won the overall schools title from Denbigh (2nd) and Hazeley (3rd).

Emma Beardmore and Jack Kee braved the freezing outdoor conditions to compete in the Swindon Weight Pentathlon.

Their respective throws were: Shot-10.25m/8.33m; Discus-34.56m/28.57m;Hammer-43.46m/37.07m;Javelin-21.20m/18.19m; and Heavy Hammer-13.38m/13.64m.
