Runners get in marathon practice


With spring marathons looming nine Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club runners were using the Watford Half-Marathon as a warm-up.

Dan Webber led them home in 22nd in 77.43. Gary Blaber was next, 83.21(81st) then Ian Lamb. 96th overall but 6th M50 with 84.29. Chris Nicholson clocked 84.57, Mike Kerrigan 86.05, Matt Child 87.48, Neil Jones 90.36, Wendy Webber 95.33(8th F35) and Julie Jones 101.22(11th F45).

Over the full marathon distance, Tom Hayman ran in Dubai coming 113th in 3:03.33.

In the British University Cross-Country Championships held in Brighton. Elle Roche(Birmingham) finished 41st in the ladies 6.4km race whilst Oli Lum(Cardiff) and Michael Greener(Durham) placed 139th and 178th respectively in the 8km “B” race.

At the Gayton 5km, Tom Comerford won the race in 16.55 with Brian Gilks, setting a M80 record of 35.35

At the London Indoor Games, Laura Zialor won the F20 high jump clearing 1.66m and set a PB of 5.17m in the long jump.

Also in the long jump there was a leap of 5.16m from Naomi Greener who then ran 27.30 in the 200m. Over 200m, Elysia Marriott ran 27.38 and 8.12 in the 60m, both PBs. Lucy Johnston triple jumped 10.56m.

In the 60m, Subomi Onanuga ran a PB of 7.0 and John Browne was fastest M60 with a time of 8.19.
