Two-weeks after winning his sixth Furzton Festival match in seven years he has topped the five-day Irish Arvagh angling fest with 73.400 kilo: earning a decent pay-out and a trophy big enough to swim in.

And then, partnered with Roly Mceneaney, scooping the pairs title as well in an event dominated by small silvers.

Then he was off to the Fermanagh Cup in Enniskillen while, in is own words: "Hoping the old drawing arm can hold out."

ALSO in the Emerald Isle, Michael Buchwalder and Rod Scott shared a €2,500 payout for third (total 159.560 kilo) in the five-days world pairs – adding runners-up spot in the Daiwa individual cup on 96.740kilo, two slots ahead of Steve Ringer. Mark Pollard and Derek Willan were eighth with 140.880.

BIG bream may not have fed for Arvagh and world pairs events, but much, much nearer home Scott Walker, reporting through Waters Edge, found a big shoal of slabs in Rocla Lake and notched up 100lb+.

NEIL Riddy's two-day Alders fest saw Gary Thorpe win one point ahead of Chris Lovelock and Pete Archer. Day one: Ed Blane 190-12, Thorpe 157-6, Lovelock 142-9. Day two: Pete Archer 177-1, Trevor Price 176-5, Ian Sunderland 166-2 (a venue PB).

CARPER Fraser Dunsford had six to 27-11 in a short Furzton session while Frazer Magee and friends shared 25 over two days.

Still on Furzton, young Michael Weeks had a new PB of 21-1 as dad Gary managed to stay ahead (for the moment) with a 22-13 PB. Bobby Baxter, reported through Fishing Republic, had a Big Pit 20-6.
