MK LIONS are in action on Friday night in their third and final pre-season friendly match – and they return to the court boosted by the news that star man Demarius Bolds will be back in the black and gold this season.
Mike New’s men welcome Team USA to the Lions Arena in Winterhall (7.30pm start) with the club’s senior squad set for their first outing together after the various signings and re-signings on the summer.
A mixture of senior and youth players took part in previous friendly games against US college sides Stony Brook and St Joseph’s, but with just two weeks to go before the start of the new British Basketball League season it’s time for the serious action to begin for Lions.
And the re-signing of last season’s top scorer Bolds is the best news fans could have hoped for ahead of that opening day trip to Leicester Riders on October 1.
Not only did Bolds lead the BBL in steals at almost three per contest last term, but he also averaged 21 points per game whilst shooting 41 per cent from the three point line and dishing out over four assists per game.
Lions chief executive Vince Macaulay could not have been happier with the re-signing of the 6ft 4in guard, saying. “Demarius was sensational for us last term, if you speak to him he’ll tell you he hasn’t quite found his feet yet so I’m very excited to have someone here committed to the Lions with plenty more to offer.”
