Chuko jumps to season's best and a silver medal

Kayleigh Presswell was just over 1m off her season’s best when taking 5th place in the hammer with a throw of 53.03m.

The 5,000m was a high quality event and Alice Ritchie ran 19.19.55 in her debut, 10th in her heat and 7th best on the club all-time rankings.

Rebecca Hardy ran 13.08/27.41 in the 100m/200m heats, Oli Lum ran 2.08.5 in his heat of the 800m and Devon Byrne jumped 1.53m in the high jump qualifying.

The Eastern Veterans track and field league opened at Sandy, Bedfordshire with a close win for the MMKAC ladies but a very understrength men’s team struggled to 3rd place. However for the men there was an inspired run from Mark Ryall who led from gun to tape in the M35 3000m where he clocked 9.00.0, just 4/10th of the league record.

Ivars Licietis equalled the M60 record in the 400m(62.4) and won the M60 100min 14.1.

In this age group a double in the throws from Bunt Scott winning the shot and hammer(10.31m/32.55m) whilst Mark Featherstone worked hard in the M50 events, winning the long jump(4.33m) and taking a close second in the shot(11.83m).

Team manager Jeremy Vick, who only 48hours earlier had run the MK marathon, filled in the 400m, shot and ran a leg of the sprint relay.

Ladies team manager Lesley Byrne, won the F50 pole vault and 2km walk with second places in the long jump and shot. Corinne Nurse won the F35 400m in a fast 65.3 and later won the long jump(3.27m).

Other ladies winners were Steph Johnson, F35 100m(15.6), Diane Baldwin, F50 1km walk(5.40.0) which was also a league record by just 1.4 sec. whilst Fi-Han Bromilow took the F60 3000m(16.13.5).
