None of the 23 girls have played golf before, but they have had their interest peaked as a result of their training and their imminent involvement in the tournament.

Teaching Assistant and golf fan Jo Scott approached Year 11 girls at the College to see whether any would be interested in carrying the leaderboards at The Ricoh Women’s British Open Championship.

She said: “I thought it would be a great way to provide outreach for golf by trying to get as many girls involved as possible, particularly those who haven’t played golf before.”

The tournament tees off on Thursday July 28.
