Bletchley Town will begin life in Cherwell League Division Two without several of their influential players from years gone by.
Relegation from Division One last summer has hit the club hard, with long-serving captain James Clark among those to jump ship.
Clark leaves Bletchley after some 20 years, and is followed out the door by the likes of James Sprittles, James Ward, Mark Roberts and Graham Simpson – the backbone of the club during a proud stint in the Cherwell’s top flight.
That leaves new captain Wasim Fayyaz with a big job on his hands to steady the ship, but Bletchley will realistically have to settle for a year of consolidation in Division Two, where they will come up against near neighbours Wolverton Town.
The two teams first meet each other at the end of May, but before then Bletchley begin their season at home to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts on May 11, while Wolves host Challow and Childrey.
Meanwhile Great Brickhill start their second year in the top flight with a home match against Oxford Downs.
