Brickhill 2nds take the title

Great Brickhill 2nds wrapped up the Division 4 title with a crushing win over championship rivals Tiddington 2nds.

Both sides knew the winner would take the spoils on the final day, but it was Brickhill who would lay down the gauntlet.

Nick Cadman hit a crucial 132 as the home side raced away to an ominous 331-9.

And Julian Blackwell did the business with the ball, taking 4-59 as Tiddington failed to fire, skittled for 181 to lose by 150 runs.

With Brickhill taking 25 points to Tiddington’s 7, it meant the men from Horsepond would lift the Division 4 title by a 40-point margin.

Meanwhile, Great Brickhill 1sts ended their season on a high with an easy seven-wicket victory over Tiddington in quick-time.

Their second place was never in jeopary going into the final day, but unwilling to let off the gas, three wickets apiece for George Humphries (3-53)and Lawrence Armstrong (3-22) restricted the home side to just 150-9 from their 53 overs.

The mainstay of the Tiddington innings was opener Will Cooper, who hit 44, but found partners few and far between.

Jilesh Pattni (9) fell fairly quickly into the reply, but in Mark Nelson (79) and Doug Aris (48 not out), Brickhill had the makings of a victorious end to the season.

The visitors rattled off the runs in 28 overs, coming in 151-3 to wrap up the game and the season with it.
