Stony Stratford slumped to a 10-wicket defeat in their rain-affected match against Northampton Saints as their disappointing Northants Premier Division season continued on Saturday.

Stony had found batting on the Birchfield Road East track a difficult task as they laboured to 82-9 from their 33 overs.

Only three Stony batsmen made it into double figures, with Vicram Sohal top scoring for the visitors with 20.

Corbyn Dolley claimed 3-24, Ali Hasnain 2-15 and Chris Harris 2-25 as Saints put themselves well in control.

And where Stony struggled, Saints prospered with skipper Mark Wolstenholme hammering eight sixes in his innings to see his side to victory in just 7.2 overs, with Jack Mousley adding 20 not out from the other end.

In Cherwell League Division 1, Great Brickhill’s game with Wolverton was postponed without a ball bowled.

In Division 6, Wolverton 2nds avoided the rain but couldn’t avoid defeat as they lost to Long Marston 2nds by 77 runs.

Rory Miscampbell scored 97 for Long Marston as they put on a total of 198-4 dec.

In reply, opener Jamil Raja top scored 52, but was let down by the rest of his team-mates who failed to perform with the bat, eventually being bowled out for just 121.

Only one game went ahead in the Four Counties Cricket League, and is saw Milton Keynes thrash bottom club Eggington Foresters.

Three wickets each for Daniel Ramsell (3-31) and John Richardson (3-18) saw the visitors crumble to 68 all out.

Kaushik Sunkara (35) and Nimesh Chavda (30) saw MK (69-0) home in 7.1 overs.
