Marcus Goss’ 102 wasn’t enough to help Four Counties Division 1 leaders North Crawley register victory over Eaton Bray.

Goss’ ton, combined with Alex Walker’s 57, helped Crawley on to a strong-looking 223-7, held up by Andrew Norris’ 3-40.

Bray got off to a good start in reply, but Colin Bonnett struck twice in quick succession to take out Norris and Paul Harris.

But Wes Hosking looked in imperious form, hitting 106, steadying the ship for the visitors as they looked like holding on.

Bonnett though wasn’t keen on giving up as he ended with figures of 4-32, while Dean Bryce took 3-28 as things were coming down to the wire.

While Bray weren’t likely to beat Crawley’s score, a desperate late stand between Richard Osborne and Joe Roff saw Bray hold on for a losing draw.

New City took over in second place, leap-frogging opponents Milton Keynes City with their 31 run win.

Iqbal John’s 5-27 appeared to put MK City in control in the first innings as New City were all out for 163.

And despite his 80 in the reply, MK City collapsed around him, all out for just 132.

Milton Keynes climbed above Olney Town with their four wicket win. Nimesh Chavda took 4-48 for MK as Olney were bowled out for 167. And Nick Hillman’s 72 at the top of the order helped MK (168-6) home in 38 overs.
