Brickhill are still hot on the heels of leaders Thame Town, just 15 points back of the table toppers thanks to their commanding victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Mark Nelson looked in great nick for the home side, but fell agonisingly short of triple figures as he fell for 96.

Doug Aris also chimed in with a solid 55 as Great Brickhill skipper Graeme Carter fancied his side’s chances and declared on 280-8.

For Wolverton, Jude Ramanadan was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-76.

Carter’s decision to declare and take the extra overs to bowl at Wolves turned out to be inspired as the visitors collapsed and offered little resistance.

Arjun Jhala was in fierce form for the home side, taking 4-35 as Wolverton had no answers for his bowling.

Such was the gulf in class, both sides were back in the pavilion after just 18.2 overs, as Wolverton were skittled for 121.

The win handed Brickhill all 25 points for the victory, keeping up the pressure on Thame, who were also victorious on Saturday.

The sides are set to lock horns on Thame’s pitch for the title on Saturday August 22.
