No action on the final day for new champs

Even though Elstow (171-1) cruised to a nine-wicket win over New Bradwell (168), North Crawley had the title wrapped up a week prior, though their lead was cut to 32 points come the close of play.

Milton Keynes were the visitors at Eaton Bray on Saturday, and had the home side on the ropes early on, with Bray slumping to 51-5.

But Jaco Jacobs (79) and Nick Pearson (50 not out) put on an excellent rescue mission to turn the innings around, eventually finishing on 217-6.

The reply looked to be fairly straight forward for MK, especially as they passed 200 with five wickets in hand.

But James Flecknell’s excellent spell of bowling saw him finish with 4-42 as he ripped through the lower order, taking the decisive wicket with the scores tied on 217, leaving MK fifth overall.

Olney finished fourth thanks to their 46 run win over Westcroft.

Jeremiah Shields carried the bat for a brilliant 135 for the home side as he helped guide Olney to 243-4. Mudassar Ali took 2-31 from his five overs and was the pick of the bowlers for Westcroft.

Once again, Keepings Iain and Stuart did the business for Olney with the ball. Iain finished with 5-39 and Stuart 3-36 as Westcroft were reduced for 197.

New City (117) were relegated after losing to bottom club Great Horwood (119-8). A win for City, combined with New Bradwell’s lose, would have kept them in Division 1.
