Festive ride helps raise charity cash

Cyclists from all over Milton Keynes got in the Christmas spirit last weekend to raise a lot of money for two great charities.

With some rare winter sunshine and two routes to choose from, riders descended upon the BikeBus cafe in Cranfield to ride along either a 26 mile or 47 mils course.

Members of a number of clubs from Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas turned to take part including North Bucks Road Club, Team MK, Equipe Velo, Broughton Cycling Group, Corley Cycles and Leighton Buzzard Road Cycling Club.

The routes took riders from Cranfield, to the edge of Bedfordshire before heading up to the village of Turvey where the routes split, with riders doing the short route returning south.

Cyclists on the longer route headed through Harrold, Bozeat, and then to Olney at the 30 mile mark.

The final few miles took in Gayhurst, Filgrave, Emberton and Newton Blossomville before approaching Astwood and the finish line for a well-deserved cup of coffee and a rest.

A fantastic £560 was raised for The Childrens Hospital and Shine.
