Milton Keynes represented in big numbers in cyclo-cross league

Milton Keynes was represented en masse at round 8 of the Central Cyclocross League hosted by Kettering CC.

In the women’s race Team MK riders Samantha Hughes-Dowdle, Suzanne Golder, Alex Knowles and Gwen Wathne came 6th, 7th 10th and 14th.

In the men’s senior race, a large field of 32 riders competed. Leigh Smith of Equipe Velo was the highest placed rider from MK, claiming 8th place. Graham Knight of Team MK finished in 14th place and team mate Kevan Findlay took 27th position.

By far the largest field of the day was the men’s veteran 40-49 category, with 59 riders lapping the muddy course. Greg Simcock of Corley Cycles claimed 5th and Grant Hughes-Dowdle took 7th place for Team MK. Timothy Bailey finished 17th position for North Bucks Road Club.

Tim was followed closely by Jamie Hawthorn and Julian Mills of Corley Cycles in 18th and 19th. David Goodhew also of NBRC took 32nd. A contingent of Team MK riders; Martin Heaton, Nathan Thomas, Ivan Martin, Robert Corbishley , Mark Westwood and John Muncaster finished 27th, 37th, 45th, 46th, 52nd, and 54th respectively. Corley Cycles riders David Gravestock, and Robert Lugg rounded out the field finishing 58th and 59th.

In the mens veteran 50+, Roy Chamberlain, Tim Searle, Graham Mackie and Gary Kensett of Corley Cycles took 4th, 9th, 13th and 17th places. Team MK riders John Risby and Nigel Bennett both finished the day in 15th and 34th.

In the under 10 girls races, strong rides from Elana-Rose Fereda and Jessica Lea of Team Milton Keynes claimed 2nd and 3rd places respectively whilst in the Under 10 boys race more success for young Team MK riders, with Oscar Martin and Ethan McCloy finishing 4th and 5th. Further down the order, Connor Macarther, Toby Zygo, Daniel Lea finished in 7th, 9th and 10th. Harry Young finished in 18th place out of a field of 20.

The under 12 age category had more strong results, Ella-Mae Fereday getting a 2nd place followed up Evie-Lou Fereday finishing 5th. In the boys race, Team MK rider Jude Chamberlain claiming 1st place, followed closely by team mates Joseph Walton, Adam Lea , Pierre Ruben and Ethan Stevenson sewing up 4th through to 8th.

Aimee Zygo and Molli Keenor took 4th and 5th in the girls under 14 race in Team MK colours. In the boys race, two Milton Keynes riders took 2nd and 3rd, Archie Peet of Team MK and Aran Martin of Corley Cycles. Joel Corbishley of Team MK took 4th place.

A small field in the under 16 girls race sadly didn’t see any riders from MK, however the field in the boys age group race was mostly made up of riders from the MK clubs. Team MK riders Jamie Lloyd, Thomas Zygo and Lewis Muncaster finished 2nd, 6th and 9th whilst Sam Skeggs, Riley Searle and Noah Tresham of Corley Cycles finished 5th, 8th and 10th.

The Juniors race again saw a large field of Milton Keynes based riders, with Jacob Tresham of Corley Cycles taking 1st place. Evan Carter and Louis Carter, both of Corley Cycles finished in 3rd and 4th, with Team MK riders Elliot Haigh and Charlie Smith finishing 5th and 7th.
