MORE than 120 riders raced around the Pineham track last Sunday in the BMX East regionals winter series.

As hosts MK BMX had to put in plenty of hard work to get the track ready in time, and at one stage it was looking unlikely the event would happen but after sweeping puddles away from Wednesday through to Sunday morning the track was in a good, fast condition.

MK BMX bagged a hatful of podium finishes at their home race. James Payne-Fraser in the 7 and under, iwalked away from his first ever competition with a 2nd place in the final after an impressive display in his mottos with 1st and 2nds all the way.

Jack Leahy managed a fantastic 3rd riding against older riders than he usually does on 20” and an impressive 1st on his 24” showing he can hold his own against the big guns.

Liam Cremin was on fire all day and was unlucky not to take 2nd place in final after a hard fought race saw him cross the line only just in 3rd,

Izzy Ferrada showed true class mixing it up with the lads and bagged a 2nd in a very hard group of riders.

Milton Keynes riders dominated the Masters category, Nick Hill, Lee Block, Jon Ivory and Jimmy Carleton blew away the other regions finishing a collective 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th.

A massive turn out of 14 riders showed for the 17+ cruiser race, but it was MK’s Lennie Warner who showed some superb skills to dodge fallen riders and take 2nd spot.

Next month sees MK BMX visiting Peterborough on Sunday November 18 for the 2nd round of which is turning out to be a fantastic series.

Gate practice at Pineham will continue (weather permitting) on Sunday’s when the team is not racing away.
