Thousands of pedal-power fans from all over the world flocked to Campbell Park on Saturday for the eagerly-anticipated third round of the Cyclo-Cross World Cup.
Recent rainfall made way for clearer skies, much to the relief of the supporters, but it didn’t take long for the riders to churn up the course, making for tougher conditions.
The two elite races held on Saturday afternoon proved to be thrilling until the last second.
European and Belgian champion Sanne Cant (Belgium) won the race in the Women’s category in a close sprint. Her compatriot Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb - Napoleon Games Cycling Team) did the same in the Elite Men category, with both extending their leads at the top of the standings.
