It was an early start for the 21 riders of MK BMX when they set off on Sunday morning to compete in Norwich.
Although the weather was damp and grey, the rain held off for the day and some superb racing was run at the Sloughbottom park BMX track.
First up for MK BMX was Barney Devereux, Finley Davies, Danny Pattinson, Louie Pelosi, Charlie Hodges and new rider Anthony Hutchison in the 19 strong 7 and unders.
Carrying on from his unbeaten record at Ipswich in the last round, Barney Devereux set the pace early, winning all four of his qualifiers, his semi-final and his A final now sees him 12 races unbeaten and the favourite to take the number 1 plate only half way through the series,
Team mate Finley Davies (age 4) looked set to make his first A final. However, an unlucky draw in the semi-final saw him have to settle for a fifth place and a B final entry where he went on to finish in a fantastic second Place,
James Payne-Fraser fought hard in every race in the male 8-10s and bagged his place in the A final - only being out ridden by Royston’s Joshua Abbott, James showed the future strength of team MK and took 2 overall on the day.
In the Male 12-13s Toby Lachlan looked set for his usual domination of the class however Braintree’s Sydney Allen put on a fine display and the racing between them was as entertaining as it gets with Sydney narrowly getting the better of Toby in the final.
In the girls category Zara Lachlan found her 9-10yr old class mixed in with the 11-13 and the 17+ races being run together, however being the smallest girl there didn’t faze the MK rider one bit.
Not giving an inch away, Zara soon let the older experienced riders know what to expect in the future by storming through the field to take an incredible second place.
