Early set backs for Red Bull in Baku
At the inaugural session in the Azerbaijan capital Baku, Verstappen’s Tilbrook-built RB12 was spotted smoking early in the 90 minute, prompting the team to withdraw him to discover an oil leak around the gearbox.
The team would have more work to do with 20 minutes to go when Ricciardo became the first person to crash at the new street circuit, tearing the right rear wheel from the car as he swiped the barrier at Turn 15.
