First half scare kicks Bletchley Ladies into gear
Bletchley Ladies had to come from behind to beat newly promoted Kenilworth on Sunday, eventually coming out on top 33-19.
After a back-and-forth opening, Bletchley opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Emma Lucey ran in the first points.
But the home side put two converted tries on the board before half time, sending Kenilworth in 14-5 to the good at the break.
A strong second half performance saw Bletchley get back on track. Caroline Collie ran in her first score of the afternoon to reduce the arrears to 14-12, but Kenilworth scored again to make it 19-12.
Bletchley though were not to be beaten, running in the next three converted tries to put the game beyond the reach of Kenilworth.
Collie added her second of the match, with Rachael Taylor’s boot adding the extras, before Clare Stacey scored - Taylor once again on duty.
Collie completed her hat-trick two minutes later, with Taylor making it 33-19.
Bletchley Ladies travel up to Lichfield next week, to play their match rearranged from the start of the season.
