The Concrete Cows, beat Copenhagen Roller Derby’s Kick Ass Cuties 196-140 on Saturday, in their first international away game.
The Cows came out of the blocks fast and strong and quickly stormed into a 42-6 point lead, through strong defence and fast and agile jamming.
Harri Clarke and Jay Latarche made the most of frequent powerjams to rack up points, including some spectacular apex jumps which thrilled the capacity Danish crowd.
Copenhagen came back into the game through some powerjams of their own, but the Cows stayed strong, as their defensive walls led by Katie Thomas and Victoria Griffith held strong. The Cows went into the half time break with an 87-69 lead.
Cows added fresh legs to their jamming rotation in the second half, helping them pull into a 144-78 lead.
As penalties took their toll on both teams, blockers Claudia Higgins and Karen Cooper excelled as they shepherded the team home, closing out the game with a 196-140 victory.
