Not many players in the Football League will be able to boast making 100 appearances for a club before their 22nd birthday, but Callum Brittain can.

Making his debut under Richie Barker in 2016, he established himself under Robbie Neilson as a key man in the side. Unsure of his position under Paul Tisdale, Brittain played in a variety of positions as he came in and out of the side. But under Russell Martin, he has found a consistency in his play and has been one of the manager's top performers since he took over.

Saturday's 2-0 win over Wycombe not only saw Dons climb nine points clear of the relegation zone, but also marked Brittain's 100th appearance for the club.

"It has been a hell of a journey, and a quick journey too, it feels like it has flown by," he said. "I was shocked to find out about my 100th appearance – it has flown past! It has been a good few years.

"Since Russ took over there has been a change in the way we play, the Christmas period was good, we're creating chances, we're taking it to teams now and we're having more of the ball. It's enjoyable to play in and you can see it's going in the right way."

And he has a big fan in his manager. Martin believes the sky is the limit for Brittain but he is placing a lot of demands on the 21-year-old to ensure he stays on the right tracks.

He said: "I've been really demanding of Callum because I believe in him so much. His ceiling is wherever he wants it to be, I genuinely believe that with the attributes he's got. He needs to brush up on things, he knows that and my opinion on it – he agrees with it, or at least he nods like he does!

"It will be up to him and how he wants to apply himself on and off the pitch, with his professionalism and off-the-field stuff. I'm excited for his future, hopefully it's with us, but it's up to him with where he wants to take it and where he goes. Hopefully we'll improve him and we'll see after that."
