A scrappy Dons goal would delight Keogh

The defender believes Dons have to work much harder than their opponents to score

Sometimes the luck of the bounce isn't on your side, and Richard Keogh feels MK Dons have been victims of that at times this season.

Last Saturday against Accrington, Dons fell behind for a second time when Dean Lewington's clearance hit a Stanley player, falling into the path of Dion Charles to score.

At the other end though, Keogh said it feels like Dons have to work a lot harder for their goals.

"I'd love us to have a goal like that!" he said of Charles' second. "Usually, our goals are 15, 20 passes, and an unbelievable bit of play to slide it in. I think it does work itself out in football.

"It seems like teams get a couple of chances and they seem to score, we aren’t on the right side of the fine margins but we have shown we are a very hard team to play against.

"When you're invested in it, it can feel quite cruel and you get frustrated but the only way to get around it is to keep working hard, analysing and finding out what you can do better as individuals and teams."

While the 34-year-old didn't play in Tuesday night's 6-0 win over Norwich U21s, Keogh said the performance and indeed the goals were a long time coming and hopes it is a sign of things to come.

He continued: "I think we’ve been close to that a lot of times this season. If you look at our final third entries, we get there so much, we lack that killer pass sometimes.

"I think in general our box-to-box stuff is very good, the stats back that up. We don’t concede many shots and I think we are on the right path – I do believe our performances have been very good for the most part."
