It was not a sense of relief but perhaps justice for Russell Martin after watching his side brush Wigan Athletic away in their 2-0 win at Stadium MK on Tuesday night.

The Dons boss has felt somewhat aggrieved at results not matching performances this season, but goals from Scott Fraser and Ste Walker early in the second half saw his side pick up the vital victory which lifts them out of the League One relegation zone.

"I'm not sure it's relief but they got what they deserved," said the manager afterwards. "I've been frustrated with the results in general. We've been good at home, we feel comfortable here. We have to keep getting results here and find a formula to get them away.

"We were outstanding for 75 minutes and should have scored more goals. Some of the football in the first half was fantastic. I'm really proud of the players for their approach from the outset, with so much intensity and that's not easy in the current situation we're in. It was a real test of character.

"We made it more difficult in the final 10 minutes than we needed to but I totally understand the anxiety and tension when we're so desperate to win."
