Aneke can play himself back into the MK Dons fold

It is no secret that Aneke is looking for a move away from Stadium MK before the deadline, but with time running out, he may be left to wait it out until January should no club make the right offer.

The 25-year-old is yet to kick a ball for Dons this season, taking part in just a handful of training sessions since Paul Tisdale arrived at the club in the summer. A move to Bolton Wanderers had been touted earlier in the window, but the deal fell flat.

But should a move fail to materialise in time, Aneke, who was Dons top scorer last season, will be welcomed back into the fold with a clean slate, said assistant manager Oakley, as long as it is willing to work to get into the team.

"If the window shuts on Friday and he's willing to work hard and get into the side, we're more than happy for that," said Oakley. "If the window shuts, we move on, its' a clean slate and work together, coming to a position to bring him into the team or the squad. He will have to fight for his place to try and get back in though.

"He's a good, good player. We've had Chuks in a number of sessions and we can see the quality he has got.

"It has been the same situation as it has been throughout the summer - Chuks wanted to see what's out there. He wants to play at a higher level and we're more than happy for him to do that, but until the window shuts tomorrow, we'll take it a day at a time."

With the window set to shut at 5pm on Friday night, Oakley did not rule out any more incomings before the deadline, adding: "My job is working with the head of recruitment, Liam, and we're always looking. We're looking for Friday and for January."
