It is a big week facing MK Dons ths week, with away trips to Portsmouth and Rotherham in quick succession - what better time than now to fix their away form?

It has been over five months or 12 games since their last triumph on the road - the 3-0 win over Blackpool on September 14, 2019.

The barren run has contributed to their league position, with Dons sitting 18th in League One despite winning seven of their last eight at home. But away form has been on the turn: Russell Martin's side picked up points in their last away double-header, with 1-1 draws at Shrewsbury and Lincoln.

Both Portsmouth and Rotherham are fighting at the sharp end of the table, with the Millers topping League One, while Pompey are just outside the play-off spots. And both will be wary of Martin's Dons, having had scares in the reverse fixtures at Stadium MK.

Picking up that illusive away win though is something Dons would love to do.

"It would be nice," said Lewington. "We've been improving away from home. We've looked a lot harder to beat. Arguably, the last three or four away games we should have won. It's just trying to find that right formula.

"We're getting there, it's better. We're not going there now just to defend, we're causing problems and we're difficult to play against. It would be nice to get more wins on the board, and if we can combine that with the home form we'll be a half-decent team.

"It's frustrating because the home form has been excellent, and if we could have added a few away wins we wouldn't be in this position but it's something we'll have to work on."
