Barker to take charge against Coventry as manager debacle rolls on

Richie Barker expects Saturday to be his last game in charge of MK Dons

Now more than a month after Karl Robinson's departure, the club are yet to appoint a manager to replace him, leaving Barker to lead the team.

While Robinson has moved on to pastures new, accepting the top job at fellow League 1 side Charlton Athletic, Dons are still thinking about his replacement.

With no new appointment in sight, Barker will be on the touchline calling the shots for Dons when they make the short journey to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday to take on fellow strugglers Coventry.

But he says he's almost certain someone else will be in charge for the FA Cup clash, ironically against Robinson's Charlton side, next weekend.

Barker said: "I've not been given any indication that anyone will by in before Saturday so I'll continue as normal.

"I think by Charlton, (there will be a replacement). But who knows?

"There's no league game after Coventry for two weeks, so you'd imagine someone would be in - well I'm 99 per cent certain - before that next league game. But I'm fairly certain someone will be in for the FA Cup game.

"It's important someone is in charge for the next league game, because the league form is what's important here."
