Russell Martin said Baily Cargill's 88th-minute equaliser ibn the 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers was a great example of keeping calm under pressure.

The defender exchanged one-touch passes with David Kasumu and Carlton Morris before coolly slotting past keeper Joe Bursik with two minutes to go to secure Dons a point on the opening day of the season.

Sam Nombe, Carlton Morris, David Kasumu and Lasse Sorensen had all missed first half chances before Madger Gomes pounced in the second half to give Rovers the lead.

But with Cargill calmly striding into the box to put home the equaliser, Martin said it highlighted the importance of staying calm in front of goal.

"If that goal is not an example of remaining calm and patient and simple in the final third, I don't know what else we can show them," he explained. "If he can show that composure every week, we know he'll get a fair share of goals."

After a patchy season last time out, Martin believes Cargill will be a key man for him this season, adding: "Baily had three really good chances against Northampton too. He is playing a position which really suits him and will get him in the box a lot. He's got technical qualities that not many others have. He's lost weight and come back in great condition physically and mentally. He was excellent defensively too."
