Having thrown away leads to Huddersfield last Tuesday and Middlesbrough earlier this month, Dons find themselves just three points outside the relegation zone again, looking over their shoulders at the drop.

“The worry for me is that we are playing better but we’re not taking enough points,” said Robinson. “Blackburn haven’t played well but they’ve nicked it.

“I’m gutted. We didn’t deserve to lose. We dominated for large parts, but we conceded three set pieces. We just switched off.

“We need to learn to mark on the edge of the box. The players on the edge are usually wide players or attacking players and they need to start taking responsibility. Today was 90 per cent excellent and 10 per cent childish play.

“Overall, we were by far the better team in my view. In the first 15 minutes of the second half, they put us under a lot of pressure. They have quality littered through their squad, but we’re performed wonderfully and come away with nothing. It’s a huge kick to us.

“It’s disappointing to have led in both the last two games and come away with just a point. We need to learn from that.

“When the unpredictably of the game kick in, we need our natural game understanding to take over.

“No-one is scoring good goals against us. Our first goal was outstanding. But we’re coming away with nothing. Coming away from home and scoring twice, you expect to get something.

“It’s just stupid little things. It’s game understanding we’ve got to learn. But as Dean Lewington said in there: there might not be time to learn now. We’ve got to stand up and be counted now.”

Robinson warned though that talk of relegation and negativity around the club could end up costing them, urging fans to remain positive despite their precarious position.

He said: “If you start creating nervous tension, you’re going to relegate the football club. We’ve got to get behind them. We need to believe.

“We’re not in the relegation zone, and that’s the most imporant thing. We’ve got some big games still to play, and I’m not getting too dismissive or downhearted.”
