'˜Current squad is capable but needs improvements'

Dons boss Karl Robinson expects to bring in new faces when the transfer window reopens in January but believes the current squad is good enough to get them promoted.

Despite sitting 12th in the table after 12 games since being relegated back to League 1, the manager remains confident, but admits he will need to bring in new options.

“I think there are certain changes that need to happen to be part of what we’re doing,” he said. “But there’s always growth.

“I’m backing my players and I make no apologies for that.”

Robinson is likely to be looking for goals when the window reopens, with Kieran Agard only scoring four times this season, and Nicky Maynard yet to find the back of the net this season - but Robinson is keeping faith in his two front men.

“I thought Nicky was brilliant when he came on on Sunday. And his strike... did that look like someone who was lacking confidence?!

“I’ll stick by my players through thick and thin.”
