Darling wants to hit the ground running at MK Dons

Harry Darling won't need any time to get up to match fitness after signing from Cambridge United on Friday.

The 21-year-old has been a regular for the U's this season, and comes into the Dons squad after joining for an undisclosed fee ready to play.

I’m a ball-playing centre back, but the main aim is to keep clean sheets if I can add that to my game then perfect. I do like to defend and that’s the main aim for me - anything on top of that is an added bonus."

Darling joins from a club fighting at the sharp end of League Two, with Cambridge currently leading the way in the fight for automatic promotion to League One. But he said the lure of playing in Milton Keynes was an opportunity he could not turn down.

He said: "Since I heard about the interest I wanted to get it over and done with because it’s a great club and I’ve only heard good things. I spoke with the gaffer and he spoke highly of the club – I’m delighted to get going now.

"As soon as I knew there was some interest I wanted to get it over the line and done, I’ve played MK Dons a few times, and as soon as I heard Russ was interested it was just a case of getting it done."
