Harry Darling was disappointed not to round out an otherwise impressive debut for MK Dons with a win over Charlton Athletic.

Liam Millar's 18th-minute goal was enough to secure the points for the Addicks at Stadium MK - the only blot on Darling's copybook in stand-out showing.

The 21-year-old only completed his move from Cambridge United on Friday night, and had trained with his new team-mates just twice before being thrust into the centre of Dons' defence but impressed his manager with his performance.Darling though said the shine was taken off by the nature of the defeat.

"I'm delighted to make my debut but it was disappointing not to get the three points," he said. "I feel like we dictated the game and had a lot of possession but didn't do well in the final third. We have to improve on it and go again next week.

"We can take confidence from this but at the end of the day, it's a results business and we want to win every game no matter who we play.

"I feel settled straight away, the boys have been brilliant with me, and I hope we can build on this.

"It's a style I really like to play and it's a big reason to come to the club."
