The defender clashed with striker Tomer Hemed barely a minute after he was booked for his involvement in an altercation with goalkeeper David Stockdale following Antony Kay pulled one back for the home side in the 2-1 defeat at stadium:mk.

Referee Chris Kavanagh showed McFadzean a straight red card after colliding with Hemed, but Robinson doesn’t believe it was even a foul, let alone a sending off.

“We will appeal,” the Dons boss confirmed. “In the last 48 hours, I’ve spoken to ex-referees and sought advice. I want clarification that I’m right.

Kyle McFadzean had been booked for his involvement in a scuffle with Brighton keeper David Stockdale a minute before being sent off.

“He did exactly the same thing against Abel Hernandez at Hull, and it wasn’t even a free kick. Kyle sees the ball, it goes over their heads, he steps across and turned his back on Hemed. In his defence, Hemed didn’t once turn to look for Kyle. He’s run at full speed into Kyle’s back.

“We ask for them every week, but we never get them. If they were really, really firm, it’d be a soft yellow.

“I’ve watched hundreds of games in my career, and I’ve never seen anyone sent off for that. The appeal we put in will be interesting. We want to make sure Kyle gets the fair end of the stick. I was told he raised his shoulder into his face.

“Something must have been said. Do you really think, 30 seconds after he’s been booked, he’d do that and give the referee the question to answer?!”
