Signing Carlton Morris, Louis Thompson and Andrew Fisher on loan, and Ben Gladwin on a free transfer, Dons added four faces and let go of just one, that of Brennan Dickenson who left for Exeter City.

With the immediate objective to remain in League One this season, Martin said he was pleased with the signings he has made this month, and he is already eyeing up the possibilities ahead of him for next season.

He said: "As I look back at my first of hopefully many at this club, this one was the most short-term, but already we're planning for summer and making sure we have a squad to fit the vision of how I see it to enable being successful.

"I think it has been really successful. At the start, I did not know how it was going to transpire, or how it was going to finish. People can see already the quality we've added to the squad. It was about adding character as well as ability. We've added leaders, and I know we've bought in some really good experience. Andrew coming in today has given us real competition in goal as well."
