Russell Martin questioned referee Chris Sarginson's decision making after he felt his MK Dons side were denied a goal and two penalties in the 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

Cameron Jerome thought he'd opened the scoring after just 30 seconds when he bent the ball around Connal Trueman in the AFC Wimbledon net, only to see it ruled out for offside - a decision Martin believes was wrong.

But after Scott Fraser cancelled out Joe Pigott's eventual opener, Matthew Sorinola was twice downed in the penalty area - both of which Martin believes should have resulted in spot kicks.

He said: "We should go a goal up through Cameron Jerome, who is onside, so that's frustrating. They score from a similar move and he looks more offside than Cammy did. But we responded really well.

"The players were frustrated because it was another decision that went against us, and it shouldn't. Matthew Sorinola got fouled twice for penalties. He tried to be honest and stay on his feet twice, and there is no reason for him to go down unless there is contact. But that's common sense and logic."

Despite the decisions not going his way though, Martin felt the home side were the only ones trying to win the game, despite seeing his keeper make the two best saves of the game.

"I know Fish has had to pull off two good saves but we're frustrated not to win the game," he continued. "We didn't have enough quality in the final third. We got in there enough for the final pass, the cross wasn't quite good enough and anxiety took over.

"We dominated the game. They defended well, credit to them for that. They got a lot of people behind the ball but we have ot be able to break that down.

"We have to have that final pass. I'm disappointed not to win, but it's important not to get beaten. We responded well to going a goal down, but overall the performance was ok.

"They came to make it difficult, put bodies behind the ball and it's hard but we have to make sure that's not enough to stop us or to beat us. The most pleasing thing for us was not getting dragged into a game we didn't want it to be. It was a game we dictated. Teams are making it tough, which is a sign of respect, but we have to be ready for that."
