Dons break transfer record to sign Kieran Agard

MK Dons have broken the club record to sign striker Kieran Agard from Bristol City.

The 26-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee from Ashton Gate but is the biggest in the club’s history, surpassing Dons’ outlay to Crawley Town when they signed Kyle McFadzean in summer 2014.

The deal comes as little surprise to Dons supporters, who saw Agard on the pitch meeting with manager Karl Robinson and chairman Pete Winkelman at Rodney Parade ahead of Dons’ EFL Cup clash with Newport County on Tuesday night.

Agard, who signed a three-year-deal at Stadium MK, has a proven track record. Having made a name for himself at Yeovil, he moved to Rotherham in 2012. His form in League 2 helped the Millers automatic promotion in 2013.

And he took to League 1 well too, scoring 26 goals for Rotherham in all competitions that year, earning himself a move to Bristol City for a fee around £750,000.

In 64 appearances for the Robins, Agard scored 15 goals, though found himself down the pecking order at Ashton Gate, and only hit the back of the net three times in 25 Championship appearances last season.
