Dons building momentum again, says Baldock

While Dons are now within a point of the relegation zone following Rotherham’s shock 1-0 win over Middlesbrough, Dons have picked up four points from their last two games, dragging Bristol City and Fulham back into the dog fight at the bottom of the table.

“I think it’s a point gained,” said Baldock. “The ideal scenario is to win the home games and draw away and we stick to that. I know Rotherham won, but they’re not Real Madrid, they’ll slip up. We’ve just got to capitalise but other teams are now in the mix and it’s a good job we didn’t lose.

“When Bristol City beat us, people thought that was them clear but now they’re back with us. The more teams that can be dragged in, the better for us.

“There were a few moans when he heard the Rotherham result, but we’ll be alright, we’re only focussed on ourselves. We’re really pleased with how things have gone in recent weeks with results and performances too.”

The game at The Valley lacked any real quality and smacked of a game at the wrong end of the table, but for Baldock, it was a result Dons simply couldn’t afford to lose.

He said: “It was very nervy and I don’t think either set of fans can blame the players for that. It was one of those games where you just cannot lose. That wasn’t said, but it’s how I viewed the game. It was bitty and rash at times.

“It got heated too, but I’m sure the fans won’t be too disappointed as they go home.

“We’ve turned a corner recently, we’ve put good points on the board and if we can keep that up, we’ll be alright.

“We didn’t lose and it’s good momentum. We need to put back-to-back wins together at some point ideally. But if we can’t do that, we need to make sure we don’t lose. Now we need to build momentum and carry on.”
