MK Dons should have handed Ipswich Town their first defeat of the new season, according to manager Russell Martin following the 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Ipswich headed to Stadium MK with a 100 per cent record after three games and looked like extending that after just seven minutes when Jon Nolan fired in a scrappy opener.

But Daniel Harvie's strike 10 minutes into the second half secured Dons a point though with the visitors reduced to 10-men through injury for the final 22 minutes, Martin felt his side should have gone on to claim their first win of the season.

He said: "I'm delighted with the performance but not with the point because we deserved all three. It's the team with the best record in the league and we've restricted them to one shot and they've managed to get a point. I'm extremely demanding, I'm pleased with the performance but not the result.

"Apart from Crewe, we've limited teams to very few shots against us. Ipswich have really hurt teams this season, and we completely dominated in all departments. I'm disappointed for the players not to have won that.

"The reaction in the first half was terrific but we have to stop conceding first, it's that simple. If we do, we will be a very very good team this season. Crewe needs to be a one-off, and we responded with our best performance of the season today. We saw so many positive things that I cannot be too unhappy but the goal is not good enough.
