Robinson has been linked with several clubs in the Championship, most recently replacing Evans, who is expected back at work on Wednesday.

It isn’t the first time Robinson has been linked to jobs away from stadium:mk, nor is it the first time he has been touted with a move to Yorkshire, with Sheffield United heavily linked to the 35-year-old two years ago.

Speaking on the most recent speculation, an MK Dons spokesman said: “It’s not the first time there has been rumour and speculation involving the future of Karl Robinson and we know it won’t be the last.

“What we do know and can confirm is that Karl is single-mindedly working hard to identify and recruit players what will strengthen MK Dons as the club looks to bid for success in the 2016/17 season.”
