Players could leave MK Dons imminently during this transfer window, while incomings are still being worked on as the Janury transfer window swung back open.

Dons boss Russell Martin said he was eager to get business done early in the window, especially after news of Carlton Morris' return to Norwich City to complete a deal to Barnsley this month.

But not only will he be seeking out a replacement up front, he is also freeing up space in his squad, with players expected to leave early in the window.

"We're expecting departures fairly soon, and we're hopeful to bring players in fairly quickly too," he said. "And that's all I can really say without jeopardising things for anyone. There will be players leaving and players coming in but I cannot give you an exact time.

"We have a lot of plates spinning, so I don't want to put a time scale on anything. There are three or four which could come off fairly quickly, but could drag on because these things change."

As the country was plunged back into lockdown, Martin admitted it was probably an inopportune time for it to happen for the club, with rest of the business suffering financially as a result.

He added: "With lockdown, it makes things more difficult because of the business behind the football again. It has changed the landscape a bit. Andy (Cullen) and the chairman have been really supportive but at the same time, I have to be conscious not to put the club in jeopardy or under unnecessary pressure. We are trying really hard, there will be people signing, I just can't tell you when!"
