Dons fear no Addicks in The Valley

Dons start the day seven points clear of the Addicks, who sit 23rd in the Championship, but that gap could close to four, or be stretched to 10 by the close of play.

The Valley it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Dons in seasons gone by though, having lost on all three visits. And Robinson feels his side have nothing to lose against Charlton, and though avoiding defeat is important, his side will be setting up to take all three points.

“If they beat us, they’re still four points behind us,” he said. “We’re going to The Valley to win and they need to be at their best because we’re getting close to ours. The spirit at the moment is phenomenal. I’m not sure every manager can say that.

“I don’t think we’ve had many good results there. Hopefully this will be a good performance and a pleasing result.

“We’re in a difficult part of the season for every body, tension is running high. We go to The Valley in good form.”

While Robinson doesn’t feel the game is ‘must win’ with 11 matches remaining this season, he also feels performing well is just as important as getting results, feeling one cannot follow without the other.

He said: “It’s product and process. Poor performances lead to poor results. But when you don’t play well, the result is the most important thing.

“We want to play a certain way, and that should allow us to dominate teams and get better results. In certain games though, you have to throw everything out the window and say it’s not the day! Then, you have to forget the process.”
