Luke Williams believes Dons are in strong positions to sign several of their key targets this summer.

Dons have captured defenders Daniel Harvie and Richard Keogh so far, and have re-signed Ben Gladwin and Carlton Morris (on loan from Norwich) during this window while letting Alex Gilbey, Conor McGrandles and Jordan Bowery leave the club.

Williams, Russell Martin's number two. said fans may have to be patient before deals are to be announced, but confirmed there are players who are keen to sign on the dotted line.

"There is a lot of work being done, but these deals are not simple," said the former Swindon boss. "There are a lot of different factors that go on in these things. When you're chasing good players, others are trying to do the same. We're right at the front of the queue with a lot of guys and there will be people coming in for sure."

The sale of Gilbey to League One rivals Charlton last week left many fans wondering how Dons would be able to replace their two-time Player of the Year. Williams though says while they may not be able to replace Gilbey like-for-like, he said the players they are looking to bring in will fill the void he leaves.

He said: "(Gilbey) leaves a hole – he had a unique style and created goals and opportunities for us. We will have to reshape. Players will come in and won't be Alex Gilbey but they will bring something unique to the table and we will move on. In the short period I worked with him, he left great memories – that Gillingham goal for example.

"We thank him for the memories, but we will be bringing guys in to replace him who will be making great memories in the future."
