Jordan Houghton said their second half performance was unlike MK Dons of late after they were beaten 1-0 by Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Jacob Ramsey scored the only goal of the game on 66 minutes after the home side dominated the first half, losing for only the second time since November at Stadium MK.

After great chances for Alex Gilbey, Rhys Healey and Carlton Morris in the opening 25 minutes, Houghton said Dons let slip the control of the game they had after the half-time interval.

"Frustration is the point we take away from the game," he said. "Our game plan was to do what we did (in the first half) and we did it well. But they came with a game plan, and have gone away with a 1-0 win so fair play to them.

"The second half wasn't us, and not how we like to play. We like to control the first half and kick on to another level, and we didn't do that. I don't think we had the control in the second half. It's hard to say what it was. They had a few counters, played out a bit too easily, and that's where their goal came from.

"There will be factors why we didn't continue our second half performance, we'll look to improve and hope it doesn't happen again."

With wins for Tranmere and Rochdale below them, Dons remain 18th in the league but see the gap to the relegation zone cut to eight points on Saturday night.

Houghton added: "With other results, it has killed us a bit and added more frustration. But we never like losing or dropping points, especially with that second half performance. There will be a lot of things we didn't do in the second half that we did in the first. It's not all doom and gloom but there's a long way to go."
