Alex Gilbey looks set to leave MK Dons in the next few days after agreeing to a move to Charlton Athletic, the Citizen understands.

The 25-year-old is understood to be having a medical at The Valley, and Charlton have agreed a fee with Dons for the sale. He had a year left on his current deal.

Gilbey has spent three seasons at the club and won back-to-back Player of the Year awards at Stadium MK. Signing for the club in August 2017, Gilbey made 105 appearances for Dons, scoring 11 goals.

The midfielder will link up again with Chuks Aneke, who made the same move 12 months ago. Charlton were relegated from the Championship on the last day of the season.
