MK Dons have signed experienced striker Cameron Jerome.

The 34-year-old has spent the last two years in Turkey playing for Goztepe, but has a wealth of experience on these shores, scoring more than 100 goals in the Premier League and Championship.

Jerome began his career at Middlesbrough, but made his professional debut at Cardiff City in 2004, scoring in just his second professional outing. Impressing in Wales, Birmingham parted with £3 million for the striker's services in 2006. Five years at St Andrews brought about 41 goals, earning another big money move, this time to Stoke City for £4 million.

Following a loan spell at Crystal Palace, Jerome crossed paths with Russell Martin at Norwich in 2014, where the striker spent four seasons before a move to Derby. After two years at Pride Park, he left for Turkey where he remained until the coronavirus lockdown period.

"I’m really happy," said Martin after signing the striker. "He was a player I spoke to a lot during this transfer window, he had to clarify his situation with regards to his situation in Turkey and he had a lot of offers abroad and in England.

"I’m really pleased he’s decided to come play for MK Dons, it’s a real bit of experience for the group and will add to what Dean (Lewington) and Richard (Keogh) bring.

"Most importantly, we’ve signed someone who is really hungry to show what he’s still got, he’s not lost any of the power of pace he’s shown regularly throughout his career. We can’t take his goalscoring record for granted either, he’s one of the all-time top scorers in the Championship and he would’ve had a lot more but Cameron has been deemed good enough to play a lot of games in the Premier League during his career.

"He’s really going to add to us as a group, the strikers we’ve got, and the process we’re working on. He really buys in to everything we are doing and he’s going to be a really good signing for us."
