Payments from season ticket holders will not be taken next month at MK Dons.

Saturday March 7 was the last home game supporters could watch Russell Martin's side prior to the coronavirus shutdown. While plans had been to allow fans back into Stadium MK this weekend against Ipswich, the latest government crackdowns put paid to the intentions across the entire footballing pyramid.

Supporters were last offered the option at the end of last season of a refund on the four home games they were denied, an away shirt for this season or to leave the money with the club. However, with no plans to allow fans back into grounds in the pipeline yet, Dons have decided not to take payments for October and will work on ways of compensating those who have missed out so far.

A statement read: "For as long as supporters are unable to return to Stadium MK, there will be a significant financial strain on MK Dons and therefore our season ticket income is crucial for the sustainability of the football club.

"However, we believe it is only right for us to suspend season ticket payments until we can provide certainty on what the future holds for our season ticket holders, who have remained loyal to the club throughout this unprecedented crisis.

"The club has been working hard to finalise options for season ticket holders, which we believe will maintain the value of their season ticket while matches take place behind closed doors, but these options still require approval from relevant third parties."
