MK Dons squad will continue to train away from Woughton-on-the-Green until April 3, Dons' executive director Andrew Cullen has confirmed.

While the playing staff were due to return yesterday (Thursday March 19) following the EFL's initial three-week postponement, the governing body's latest date was extended until April 30.

But after three weeks away from the training ground, Cullen said the players will be returning on April 3, but may do so in smaller groups to limit the spread of coronavirus.

"It's important the players remain in fitness," he said. "We know the risk will still be around on April 3, so they may come in and train in smaller groups. We;re working on a few plans, different contingencies to make sure we're ready to go and in peak condition when we restart the season.

"We've got to keep them motoring. Just because they won't be in until April 3 collectively, doesn't mean they're sitting at home doing nothing! They all have a training plan, they're on an app and track what they're doing and we can tailor it individually.

"They have video links in as well to the sports scientists, so we can make sure the correct regimes are being completed. They will continue to do that over the next three weeks."
